Shen Bai Acupuncture of Santa Monica is owned by Gabrielle Hammond, L. Ac. – a highly-qualified practitioner with over 14 years of experience in practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). She brings a non-judgmental, compassionate approach to healing, and combines this with a deep knowledge and rigorous study of both Western and Eastern medical traditions. She is well-studied with two Masters of Chinese Medicine from both World Medicine Institute in Honolulu, Hawaii and at Emperors College in Santa Monica, California. She is and has been a faculty member at World Medicine Institute since 1997. Currently she teaches seminar intensives there annually. In addition to her formal education, she has studied in hospitals in Beijing and worked with renowned herbalists and acupuncturists in China. She has additional certifications in Herbal Medicine, Orthopedic Acupuncture & Sport's Medicine, and Qi Gong. She has received nearly two years of specialty training and certification in Orthopedic Acupuncture to help athletes and persons with sports and physical injuries. She continues to pursue specialty training in Qi Gong healing and Herbal Medicine on an annual basis. In addition to her formal education and professional experience, she has experienced first hand the trauma and recovery of major surgery and offers her own healing perspective as a result. Her current practice includes patients with ailments ranging from allergies, post-operative recovery, low back pain, neck injury, knee injury or rehabilitation, athletic performance, carpal tunnel, Chronic Fatigue, high blood pressure, quitting smoking, insomnia, cancer, infertility, skin problems, uterine fibroids, painful periods, frozen shoulder, chronic headaches, menopause, weight loss, acid reflux, Crohns, and prostatitis leading to urinary difficulty. Gabrielle is originally from the islands of Guam and Hawaii, and now resides in Santa Monica, California. Her inspirations for health and well-being are rooted in play with nature -- ocean swimming, body surfing, hiking, and kick-dancing. She has a passion for the medicine with a long personal history in using it for her own (and her family's) care since she was 11. She would never have become an acupuncturist without these personal experiences and without her teacher and mentor, Dr. Chang Yi Hsiang. She practices this art in her honor.
